Hi again,
Previously we mentioned our current Abs problem, in response to another query about this. Sadly, having just had a massive rust bill, we now have an Abs bill on it’s way !!
We took Hector to the same good guy in Newhaven, who did the rust clearance and welding, re the Abs. He spent some time trying to diagnose the problem, and he said that the drive shaft was very badly corroded, which affected the Abs system. He’s ordered a new drive shaft, which he will fit next week, and he says this will sort the Abs problem. Naturally quite a big bill, due to time taken for finding out the problem, and then fitting the drive shaft etc … but nowhere near as big as the major rust problem bill!! (Poor H was riddled with rust and holes underneath.)
We’ve had a number of other problems recently, including the fridge not working on electric, and the waste water leaking, but we’re praying for an end to constant problems …. pleeeeeease !! It’s put us off travelling very far, for fear of a problem, but the Isle of Wight was lovely!!

That is such a sad story. I hope after a time you are able to enjoy your Exsis the way it should be.

Hope that your issues are sorted now Jean and that the driveshaft resolved the ABS issue.
That may relate to the comment that I made on the ABS thread about a serrated ring, think that may be part of the driveshaft??
All feedback is good on these older vehicles as we learn to manage them

Thank you so much Fred, for your help, kindness and interest!
Unfortunately, the ABS issue escalated, partly because the garage could not get hold of a replacement driveshaft. They acquired 4 different ones, none of which worked, and then found out that the relevant one is no longer made. As a consequence our man tried to work on the old one …. which he’s done, at considerable expense, due to all the labour ! ABS light has since gone off 🤞!(All of that took time, and we had to cancel two trips, but hey ho, we are retired!!)
He believes it’s likely that this driveshaft will need to go away and be rebuilt if there are further problems.
We currently have fridge, waste water and 2 leaks in the bathroom problems, but they’re not as bad as the previous issues …. and also not as bad as poor Gareth’s problems, bless him 🏴!Thanks again for your help and support!

Gets scary when you say replacement parts are unobtainable……would have hoped that there were so many old Ducato’s that aftermarket spares or at worst scrap ones could be found.
Hoping you get to enjoy some good trouble free trips sooooon
Keep going you old fool – that’s me and the van!
