One of the first jobs on Helga was to beef up her door security.
Taking a que from Chris & Susan’s post, we purchased these from ebay: https://tinyurl.com/y6ffwuno
Fitting was easy with a small pilot hole for the self taping screws. They are not lockable, as we wanted them to be quick easy to open from the inside if need be. They are made of metal, have all the screws and cover plates for less than £6 delivered.
Secondly we put an additional lock on the habitation door.Using this lock: https://tinyurl.com/y3zxn7ytand this cylinder: https://tinyurl.com/y6x5mjvu total cost was just over £40, I am sure you can get them cheaper, but with Amazon prime, I ordered them on Saturday, had them on Sunday and fitted them this afternoon.
Looking through Barry & Jean’s post in the little Exsis book, I measured at least 10 times, made a new template, measured again and once more to make sure before I got the hole cutter out, all went well and it fitted a treat. I put a smear of silaflex on the outer lock to ensure no water ingress, but it was very snug. The nickel finish also matches Helga’s Silver very well. It is very smooth to lock, and the keys work well.
Below is the new template I made up, copied the one from the lock, and then measured were the new cylinder would go.
So, for less than £50 and a couple of hours work, she is much more secure, time to look at the rear door. Ideally an external extra lock.

Thanks for that great post, Chris, and the info re the locks.
That’s an excellent couple of jobs that I hope helps and encourages others to beef-up their security if they haven’t done so already.
My only other comment would be to repeat the warning that the locksmith gave to me that the hole for the lock is NOT where you think it should be – its off-centre and I note that you’ve mentioned measuring and re-measuring in your text – a good reminder! Thanks also for the template – very useful.

Delighted that we seem to have started a sash blocker craze across the Exsis community…. the sash blocker manufacturers must be wondering why they are suddenly in such high demand!

The sash blockers work very well, cheap, simple to install, easy to open/close.
thanks for the tip!
